Rediscovering Our Core Values – Cultivate Greatness, Practice Humility

Introducing our first core value : Cultivate Greatness, Practice Humility

Greatness: The quality of being great, distinguished, or eminent.

Greatness is not just a quality we admire; it's a standard we uphold. As an engineering group, we are entrusted with shaping the world around us. We design the foundations upon which communities and societies thrive. In our pursuit of greatness, we push ourselves to innovate, excel, and continuously raise the bar of excellence.

Humility: Willingness to stay teachable, regardless of how much we already know.

Humility is equally essential. It's the willingness to stay teachable, regardless of how much we already know. Alongside our achievements, we must practice humility, as it fosters a culture of empathy. It reminds us to listen, learn, and remain open to new ideas and perspectives, laying the foundation for trust within our teams and with our clients.

Fred Gray, whose legacy in our firm is a testament to cultivating greatness, embodied this core value throughout his career. His exceptional skills and craftsmanship, coupled with his humility and dedication to high standards, set a benchmark for excellence that continues to inspire us. Fred's commitment to proper detailing in structural work and his willingness to go beyond industry standards exemplify his pursuit of greatness while remaining humble in his approach.

Bill Fick embodies this core value in every aspect of his work. He is a strong advocate for mentorship and growth, believing in the importance of continuous learning. Bill is patient and kind when offering feedback, always there to support younger colleagues and answer their questions. He modestly shares his successes with the team and is quick to praise others for their work. Additionally, Bill is open to new ideas and feedback, actively seeking input from others before providing his own. His optimistic attitude inspires those around him to strive for greatness while remaining humble in their achievements

It is something that I noticed when I first walked through the door of Gray & Fick, now co-elevate – there was this sense of great pride in the work and quality of the craft and yet a complete sense of collaboration, respect, and appreciation for the contributions of others that was refreshing
— Rachel Hawkins

Together we must embrace the dual commitment - to cultivate greatness in our craft, while practicing humility in our interactions.
