CLARA BRENTON PUBLIC SCHOOL

LONDON, ON

The gymnasium addition at Clara Brenton Public School was designed with careful consideration for durability, economy, and aesthetics. To achieve the desired level of durability, masonry block was selected as the primary load-bearing element for the gymnasium structure. The use of masonry block ensures that the gymnasium will maintain its structural integrity over time while providing a safe and secure environment for students to participate in sports and other activities.

In addition, the gymnasium roof was framed using open webbed steel joists (OWSJ), which offer an economical solution for long spans. Furthermore, the new front canopy was designed using structural steel, which not only adds an appealing aesthetic but also provides a durable and stable structure.

Overall, the gymnasium design reflects a careful balance between function and form, ensuring that the facility is safe, durable, and economical. The combination of masonry block, open webbed steel joists, and the structural steel canopy provides a robust and visually pleasing structure that will serve the school and community for years to come.
