ASTRO HILL GATE - FOUNDATION
IQALUIT, NU
This project involved the re-design of the original foundation for a development in Iqaluit, Nunavut, ensuring the structure was optimized based on available materials at the time of construction. Given the logistical challenges of northern construction, the foundation design was carefully adapted to maintain structural integrity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

The design services included a detailed foundation plan that incorporated typical pile details tailored to the site specific geotechnical conditions. Strategic pile grouping was used to enhance load distribution and minimize material waste. Where possible, larger piles were substituted in place of pile groups to simplify installation while maintaining the required structural support.
By adapting the foundation to available resources, this project demonstrated a flexible and practical engineering approach suited for northern environments, ensuring a strong, reliable foundation for the development while optimizing costs and materials.
