Why does structural engineering interest you?

I am fascinated by the combination of creativity, innovation, and the application of math and science that defines structural engineering. I love witnessing the immense potential of buildings and the way they harmonize with the physics that govern our world.

Why did you decide to join co-elevate?

I was drawn to co-elevate because of the team-oriented approach to project management. I was excited about the opportunity to work collaboratively and utilize Scrum methodologies. I also identified strongly with the company's core values, making it a natural fit for my professional aspirations.

What were your first few months like at co-elevate?

Cassidy describes her initial experience as exciting and accelerated. Instead of a slow transition period, she immediately dove into her new role, embracing the team and its goals with enthusiasm. The warm reception from the team members made the onboarding process seamless and enjoyable.

What has been the biggest change for you since then?

The biggest milestone at co-elevate has been taking on the role of Lead Scrum Master. Cassidy was curious about Scrum philosophy and is now leading the department, constantly seeking ways to improve and innovate. It is a testament to her dedication and passion for agile project management.

Which project has been your favourite so far?

I have really enjoyed working on the Schlegel Villages projects in Ajax and Stouffville. I appreciate the exceptional client relationship and effective management style established during these projects. I have enjoyed the opportunity to work on a multi-storey building utilizing different materials and utilizing Etabs modeling software.

What skills are you looking to improve next?

Looking ahead, Cassidy aspires to develop a deeper understanding of complex diaphragm designs. She also wants to explore creative approaches to agile project management in the consulting and construction industry.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In the next five years, I envision myself still deeply immersed in the field of structural engineering, designing multi-storey buildings with innovative materials and design concepts. I also aspire to lead co-elevate in agile project management styles.

In terms of successes, what accomplishments are you most proud of?

I take great pride in joining co-elevate, where my interests in innovation and growth intersect with my passion for structural engineering. Being part of a company that values my unique combination of skills and values is an accomplishment that fuels my motivation and dedication.

What's the best advice you could give to someone starting their career?

I would advise newcomers to embrace the possibility that your trained skills and job roles may not immediately align with your passions. I would encourage people to seek out groups or methods that combine their interests with their current knowledge and experience. Every experience, even if seemingly unrelated, can be a stepping stone towards future goals.

What does life look like for Cassidy outside of co-elevate?

Beyond the world of structural engineering, Cassidy is an enthusiastic movie aficionado and finds joy in exploring the world of cinema. Recently, she has also embarked on a creative journey, discovering the art of pottery! She also enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

What is a secret talent that no one knows about?

One of my secret talents is that I am an Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver! It's a thrilling and adventurous hobby that provides a unique perspective on the world.

Where in the world would you travel if you could go anywhere?

I’m a big fan of travelling the world! Next on the list is either the Nordic area or Japan to experience the vibrant culture and landscape.

If you could be anything other than the path chosen today, what would you be and why?

When I was younger, I believed that the only way to be involved with movies was to become an actress. I’ve since discovered numerous avenues to be involved in the film industry and would likely pursue a career in film production. I’m captivated by the storytelling potential of films and the ability to evoke emotions through editing, cinematography, and music.

Cassidy is an invaluable asset to our team at co-elevate, bringing a unique blend of technical expertise, innovation, and enthusiasm to every project. We are proud to have her on board, and we can't wait to witness her continued growth and contributions to the field of structural engineering and agile project management.
