'Tis the season of giving and this year Gray & Fick has lots to give!
TOYS FOR THE NORTH
This year Gray & Fick’s Commitment to Community Council (CCC) partnered with the Toys for the North campaign to run our second annual Secret Santa Toy Drive. Employees drew names of a colleague and then bought a gift for that person's “inner child”. All gifts were then donated to the Toys for the North, organized by the Canadian Toy Association and the RCMP.
The campaign specifically focuses on delivering toys to children and families in need in the Northern parts of Labrador, Manitoba, Nunavut, and Ontario. Gray & Fick is proud to provide engineering services in Nunavut and parts of Northern Ontario and the CCC wants to ensure we are giving back to these communities.
Every holiday season, thousands of Canadian children in the country’s most remote and often underprivileged communities have few, if any, new toys to unwrap under the tree.

The Gray & Fick toy drive was a huge success and we had a lot of laughs as we unwrapped the presents! We had our very own Santa Paws & little helper who assisted with giving out and unwrapping the gifts. Gifts include construction toys, k’nex, lego, a solar powered car kit, and much more! 31 toys in total were donated to the drive. In addition, multiple packs of AA, and AAA batteries and 96 rolls of scotch tape were added as a cherry on top for any toys that require batteries and to help wrap the amazing gifts!
BUSINESS CARE FOOD DRIVE
A number of Gray & Fick employees volunteered at the Business Cares Food Drive with the LDCA (London District Construction Association). In total the drive raised 126,000lbs of food and $63,000 in financial donations, both up 5% from 2021. It has been a challenging few years for our community and the current need at the London Food Bank has never been greater, with a 32 percent increase in demand compared to last year. This annual food drive is one way the LDCA harnesses member's collective capacity to give back to the communities we work and live in.
DAYS OF GIVING BLOOD DRIVE
To keep things going, a number of Gray & Fick employees headed to the Canadian Blood Services this week to donate blood, dressed in holiday attire of course! This week's donation was part of the London clinic's Days of Giving. This season there has been a significant hike in cancellations and a shortage in blood supply. Eligible donors are encouraged to think about making a donation this season. Better yet, make it an office event!
